This workshop focuses on the basic elements of telling a story through film, for young students. Using examples from recent films such as Raising Victor Vargas, Mosquita Y Mari, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Amreeka, we will explore the elements that make an effective film, and apply those elements to the stories we want to tell through film. Students will write individual short film scripts, and engage in the writing, production, and editing of their own joint production.
The workshop will involve regular “story-building” by the students: sharing both through words and images the stories they want to tell through film, and what the stories mean to them personally.
I am currently developing this workshop, and will be enrolling students for summer. If you or your child are interested, please email me.
